Butterflies! Butterflies!

Spring looks like it has finally arrived!  Due to the cold weather we have had this month, we ordered our butterfly larvae shipment a little later than past years.  Now we are happy to report that the first shipment should arrive sometime between the 15th and 19th with the second shipment one a week later.

Each year it is fascinating to watch the larvae grow, spin, and emerge as beautiful painted ladies.  What a miracle!  One can even notice larvae growth from the time the library opens to closing time.

The habitat will be on view in my office window in the Library Annex during Library business hours.  Be sure to come in often during mid April to the first part of May so you can see all the changes that occur.

After the butterflies hatch we will release them into the wild.  Maybe you will see one of them in your backyard this summer!
