Summer Reading Off and Cooking!

Summer Reading 2012, Reading is So Delicious! is off with a sizzling start.  We had over 150 readers register yesterday on our opening day.  Awesome!   Be sure you come in soon to join in the fun.  Special games will be in the Annex this week so you can have fun exploring our theme.  Unfortunately, some of those will need to be moved out next week so we can begin our story times and Thursday Events.

Registration for Thursday Family Events are on a week prior basis (due to the large turnouts).  You may call to register your families each week if you are not going to be coming in to the Library before hand.

This month we have the following:

June 7      Magician Rick Eugene
June 14    Cold Blooded Creatures (This one may not be appropriate for younger kids or those afraid of reptiles)
June 21    Twisted Bo-Kay (Balloon Art)
June 28    Musician Mike Anderson

Next Month:

We will not have programming the first week due to the 4th of July holiday.  We will check logs and hand out prizes, except for Wednesday when the Library is closed.

July 12    Hansel and Gretel (Elsenpeter Marionettes)
July 19    Ronald McDonald

We love seeing all our library friends during the Summer Reading Program.  See YOU soon!

Summer Reading Sign Up

School is almost out for the summer!  We can't wait to see all our library friends more often over the summer.  Hopefully we will make some new friends this summer as well. There are so many new books, movies, audio books, and magazines to see. The Library is a great place to hear stories, make a craft, and just stay cool!  Don't forget that you can down load your many book choices to your Nook, Kindle, or other devices.

The Summer Reading Program: "Reading is SO Delicious!" will kick off on May 29.  This program is for young people ages 6 months through teens. During the first week there will games to play when you come in to the Annex.  Can't make it in that week?  That's okay.  Come in as soon as you can in June so you can start your reading and earn prizes. The Teen Summer Reading Program begins June 4 and has a different way to earn rewards.  Ask us for more details.

Remember that signing up is just the first step.  After that: read, record, and bring your log into the Youth Services Department so we can see your progress and give out your prizes.  The goal shirts this year are really cool!

School goals are posted on the bulletin board with progress changes each Monday.  Are you going to help your school win a trophy this summer?

Story time sign-ups, Art/Craft Class sign-ups, and Thursday Event sign-ups are also done at the the Youth Services desk.  Each part of the summer program is like going to a restaurant. You don't order ALL the things on the menu; you pick and choose what YOU want to do (or eat).  You can do many different things or only one.  It is up to you.

All activities are free.  All we ask is that you register for all parts you will be attending so we can make plans accordingly.  Some classes do have space limitations.  You can call 732-5732 if you have any questions, but sign-ups for reading are not accepted by phone.

See you at the most delicious place in town this summer: the Lincoln Public Library!
