Winter/Spring Programs Beginning

Story Times and Crafts are back starting February 3! Pre-registration is required for accurate planning, so call 217-732-5732 today to reserve your spot!

Little Listeners Lapsit is for little ones 6 months - 2 years to experience stories, finger plays, nursery rhymes, and music while having the comfort of an adult playing right along with them. What a great way to introduce very young children to the library experience. We currently are only holding this class on Wednesday mornings, but may split it and add a Tuesday group if the numbers become too large.

Beginning Book Buddies is for preschool age children 3 - 4 years old. It includes finger plays, puppets, music, stories, a craft, and of course "Magic Bubble Gum" time. Although parents may attend right along with their young ones, this is a chance to encourage a short "big kid" activity without parents in the same room. (Parents must stay in the library and are encouraged to help their young ones with the craft.) Five year olds who have not started kindergarten are also welcome to join this group. This group is held Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, which is great for Moms and Dads that have a Lapsit age child on Wednesday. We encourage parents to stay with their older child's group until they are comfortable being on their own before joining into Lapsit with a younger child.

For children of school age ( 5 - 7 years) we have a Ready Readers Story Time with music, poems, "Magic Bubble Gum" activities, but with more advanced stories and crafts. This group meets on Tuesdays at 3:30 P. M.

Does your child love being creative? How about joining our craft class? This Thursday at 3:30 class is for ages 8 - 12 year olds and includes all types of creative fun. Come for all the classes or choose your favorite activities. Sign-up for this is two weeks in advance of each class. Come in for a list of the activities or call the Youth Services Desk at 732-5732.

Hello everyone! We are going to try something new here at Lincoln Public Library District. I am going to try a blog to keep you in touch with new books that have come to the Library Youth Services Department. As I learn more about this, we will expand to more information. Let me know how you like this!
